A Letter to My Self

Halo, Lulu!


Apa kabar hari ini? Apakah harimu menyenangkan? Sesekali menulis pesan untuk diri sendiri tidak ada salahnya. You can read this later to reflect or motivate your own self. This letter written when you're 22 years old.

Today you are alive. You wake up in the morning, enjoyed breakfast while watching your favorite idol group. Wanna One, remember?

You met your friend back in college.
You discussed a project with her.
You got to eat delicious food.
Your stomach got full.
And so your happiness.

Dear, I know you've been through a lot. You once hated your surroundings, your family, even yourself. That is not good. You won't do that ever again, right?

You got trouble at this and that, yet you keep it yourself.
You won't tell others just in case they'll worry about you.
So you keep a poker face.
You LOOKED happy.
All to look strong.

Dear, it's okay to cry. It's okay to get angry. Relieve yourself. Get the stressful thought out already. All negative vibes will get you nowhere.

Now, read this carefully. I want you to remember this. Invest on 3 things below.

First, Akhirat.
Destinasi akhirmu bukan dunia. Bukan karier yang tinggi. Harta yang banyak. Suami yang kamu idam-idamkan. Anak-anak yang lucu. NO. Jauh disana ada Hari Kebangkitan. Hari Akhir. Dan itu semua udah dijanjikan akan terjadi. It will surely happen.

Dear, be prepared. Kuatkan lagi ibadahmu. Tambah lagi amalan sunnahmu. Lakukan hal yang bermanfaat. Yang akan menambah berat di amal baikmu ketika ditimbang.

But, remember. Jaga adabmu. Akhlakmu. Apa artinya sholatmu, bacaan Al-Qur'anmu, sedekahmu, kalau masih ada orang yang tersakiti karena lidahmu? Karena gerak gerik kaki tanganmu?

So dear, please. Behave. Contohlah Nabimu. Muhammad Shallallahu 'alaihi wa Sallam. Bukankah beliau udah memberikan teladan terbaik bagi umatnya? Baca, baca, baca. Hayati kisahnya semasa hidup. Do it in your daily life.

Second, Health.
You studied a lot, right? You even majored in public health. So you must know it well. Kesehatan adalah hal yang nggak ternilai harganya. Mau berapa banyak pun uang yang kamu keluarkan, if you ruin your health, you'll get NOTHING. Saat kamu sakit, kamu tidak akan produktif. Kamu hanya bisa berbaring di tempat tidur. While bothering others. You won't do that, right?

Mulailah untuk makan dengan menu sehat. Tahan diri. Hindari konsumsi makanan yang tubuhmu tidak butuhkan. Exercise, dear!

Betapa berharganya setiap inch dari tubuhmu. No one but Allah can create it. He gives you a perfect figure. Please, jagalah sebaik mungkin.

Third, Relationship.
You might be an introvert. You act shy when meet a new person. Tapi itu bukan alasan untuk menutup diri. Menjauhkan diri dari orang sekitar. Kamu manusia. Kamu makhluk sosial. Seberapa pemalunya kamu, kamu butuh orang lain. You cannot live alone. You'll eventually need help.

Mulailah untuk menyapa terlebih dahulu. Memberikan senyum terlebih dahulu. Membuka percakapan terlebih dahulu. Memang awalnya sulit. Tapi berusahalah. Nothing impossible. I'm Possible. Okay?

Each second of your life is precious. They won't be back. Waktu yang kamu punya hanya akan terus melaju maju. Mereka nggak kenal mundur. So you also have to be like them. Move on! Go ahead! Explore yourself. Use your time wisely. Never waste in on silly things.

Dear, I know you can. Be the best version of yourself. Don't forget to make dua and ask His forgiveness. May Allah always give His rahmat & hidayah to you, Dear. I love you. You are always loved.
